Following the recent launch of ClubSportEdinburgh Chairperson Douglas Adamson announced
"Membership of ClubSportEdinburgh gives clubs a place to come together and share knowledge and experiences to overcome the many similar challenges they face such as recruiting members, dealing with legislation, accessing sources of income to cover and making best use of current or obtaining better facilities.
We also want to ensure that clubs have their voice heard properly and the issues they face addressed - one club shouting loud can be ignored, an organisation representing thousands wont be. In light of the increasing focus on sport on a national level with the Olympics in London only four years away and six years till Glasgow hosts the Commonwealth Games, ClubSportEdinburgh seeks to make sure that Edinburgh clubs are very much involved in the sporting political agenda.
Grassroot sport is mostly delivered by clubs who are run by volunteers contributing thousands of hours of service to the sporting community. It is difficult to place a financial value to that contribution which is often unseen but I'm sure few clubs could ever afford to pay anything remotely like minimum wage for those unpaid hours. Volunteers deserve support and that means the clubs they help need support.
With Clubs being one of the most important deliverers of sport and physical recreation ClubSportEdinburgh is here to help clubs grow improve and develop.
