10 Aug 2008 - Host Clubs and Volunteers required for Golden Oldies

Appeal For Local Clubs To ‘Adopt-A-Club’

The Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival is calling on the city’s sporting & community clubs to get involved in the Golden Oldies ‘adopt-a-club’ scheme. From 1st to 8th September 2008 over 3,000+ international rugby enthusiasts will arrive in Edinburgh for a week of ‘Fun, Friendship & Fraternity’, and they need a home to complete their Festival preparations.

What We Need

We are appealing to all local sporting & community groups (not just rugby clubs) throughout the Capital to spare a little time and resource by volunteering your clubhouse/facilities for a Golden Oldies team’s usage. If you can deliver a facility for a team to train, to socialise and use your bar facilities, please get in touch.

How you can benefit from adopting a Club

Your organisation can benefit through Golden Oldies teams using your venue and facilities, particularly at quieter times of the week.

In addition, through your participation, club members will receive a once in a lifetime chance to develop friendships with like-minded people from all around the world, coupled with associating themselves with one of Edinburgh’s highest profile events in 2008.

Want to be involved as a volunteer?

The festival is one of Scotland ’s largest sporting events and we need your help to make it happen! We’re calling on everyone who has a passion for sport and some free time, to lend a hand and ensure the 2008 Golden Oldies is the years’ best sporting event.

By sparing a little of your time, you can make a big difference by helping us taking care of the details that will make the Festival a huge success. In exchange for your hard work, we will provide free volunteer kit, great experience for your CV, and the chance to develop friendships with sportsmen from every corner of the globe.

If you think your club can provide a home for an international Golden Oldies team or if any of your members wish to become volunteers, please get in touch by emailing: go2008@platinum-one.co.uk or phone Michael Scallon (Platinum One) on 0131 514 4444 for further details.
