The World’s Biggest Rugby Festival is Coming to Edinburgh!
The Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival is still a long way away, but organisers are delighted to already have received over 90 team entries from 14 countries across the globe. The festival, which takes place from 1 - 8 September 2008, is expected to attract around 4,000 players, families and friends - who will all be able to soak up the Festival atmosphere of ‘Fun, Friendship and Fraternity’.
Now the organisers are turning their attention to you, the rugby lovers of Edinburgh, to sign up and take part in this truly international festival of rugby.
Festival Ambassador Gavin Hastings said: "With over 2,000 participants already signed up from around the globe, we are looking for team entries from across Edinburgh and Scotland to show our guests the true spirit of the Scots both on and off the field. This is a fantastic opportunity to extend the warmest of Scottish hospitality to our visitors and showcase all that our great city and country has to offer!"
To be eligible for the Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival the only requirement is that you are over the age of 35 years of age. Whilst international guests have a package that includes transport and accommodation, a separate package has been put together for ‘locals’ and is available to anyone who lives in Scotland.
For just £55 per player (plus team entry fee) teams from anywhere in Scotland can sign up to the local package which includes: three days of rugby at Murrayfield, Saughton & Roseburn Parks, the Opening Ceremony followed by a Parade of Nations and an invitation to the Official Welcome Party PLUS the chance to meet and play rugby with similar-minded people from around the world.
